Steven Phillips Joins as General Manager to Elevate Guest

Steven Phillips, a native of the United Kingdom and ardent admirer of the natural world, is the new general manager of the seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll in the Maldives.

Steven has a wealth of expertise working with some of the most prestigious, globally recognised, and rapidly expanding luxury businesses, including business hotels, golf resorts, and opulent private island resorts. Steven has experience working in several different countries, including the Maldives for ten years as well as London, Japan, Malta, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Abu Dhabi.

Serving as the general manager of Gili Lankanfushi, an opulent Maldivian resort with 45 villas, including the largest overwater villa complex in the world, from 2014 to 2017 was one of Steven's career high points. The building was chosen as Readers' Choice's No. 1 Hotel in the World in 2015.

While managing both Joali Resorts in the Maldives as Area General Manager from 2017 to 2020, Steven was crucial to the opening of Joali Maldives.

Steven holds a degree in Hotel & Institutional Operations and various practical credentials, including the General Manager's Executive Course - UK, the Cornell Hospitality, and the Certificate in Wine & Spirits.

Steven also has an exceptional track record in managing ultra-luxury resorts, strategic budgeting, public relations, media relations, and organisational development. He is an established executive in the hotel industry who excels at establishing and putting organisational frameworks in place in destination resorts prior to opening.

He enjoys playing golf and scuba diving, and when the weather isn't so great, he enjoys gourmet dining and drinking expensive wines. Corinne, Steven's wife, also has a love for travelling and preserving the natural world.

Steven offers his knowledge in the hospitality industry, his love of learning about different cultures, and his savior-faire. Steven will make sure that Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives continues to deliver unmatched guest experiences and adds a humorous spin to luxury in his new role.
