David Arul Pragasam has been appointed as the Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing, according to CROSSROADS Maldives. David is an invaluable member of the team because of his amazing 30 years of expertise in the hospitality and tourism profession.
With Mayflower Tours and Travel Co., a company that specializes in groups and international convention groups, David started his career. Later, he changed careers and entered the hospitality sector, working for prominent hotel and resort companies in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Thailand, among other countries in Southeast Asia.
David has shown exceptional leadership abilities throughout his career, leading large teams and generating income. His past positions, notably his most recent one as the Cluster Director of Sales and Marketing at Pan Pacific Hotel Group, where he effectively supervised the commercial elements of PARKROYAL Penang Resort and PARKROYAL Langkawi Resort, demonstrate his experience in the hospitality sector. The resorts had outstanding outcomes under hisTM leadership, with a notable rise in room income, banquet revenue, and overall resort revenue.
David had previously held important leadership positions at illustrious hotel brands including Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, Langham Hotels & Resorts, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, and Abdul Razak Holdings (ARH) Group of Hotels in Brunei. David also served as General Manager at AOS Conventions & Events, where he oversaw sizable events and carried out hotel agreements for significant conferences.
Beyond his knowledge of sales and marketing, David has many other skills. He has a strong dedication to lifelong learning and development along with a good foundation in revenue management, digital marketing, and crisis management. In addition to his MBA in Tourism & Hospitality Management from AIB University in Australia, he also has diplomas in B2B Digital Marketing from the Malaysia Institute of Management and Hotel Industry Analytics from the American Hotel & Lodging (AHLE). We have no doubt that David will succeed in his new position at Crossroads given his demonstrated track record of generating revenue growth, his love for the business, and his leadership abilities.
