Debanjan Kundu has been hired as Director of Sales and Marketing at the wellness-focused Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, according to a press release. Debanjan is no stranger to Marriott International; throughout his nearly two-decade career in broad hospitality operation and management, he has worked with a number of the company's brands, including Sheraton, Westin, and The Ritz-Carlton.
Debanjan began his career in the hospitality industry as a corporate trainee at the Hyatt Regency in Kolkata. Later, he focused more on the sales function, where his outspoken and methodical attitude made him an expert at developing strategies for market growth and expansion. His MBA in marketing from Trinity St. David University in Wales gave him even more information and abilities for a successful profession.
Debanjan has held a number of Director of Sales and Marketing positions in upscale hotels in India, including establishments in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He formerly held the position of Senior Director of Sales-India at Amadeus before joining The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort.
Debanjan stated, "I am pleased to return to Marriott International and join this wellness sanctuary in Baa Atoll, the first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site in the Maldives, upon joining The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort. Being in a location with a global source market, like the Maldives, I am confident that this position will allow me to make the most of my skills and provide several commercial prospects to the resort. I'm excited to support and implement Westin's renowned wellness initiatives, which enable guests to rest, eat, move, feel, work, and play well so that everyone may perform at their best.
