Vijai Singh has been named as the area vice president of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, the largest hotel operator in Sri Lanka, for its Maldives Resort Portfolio. In his new position, he will concentrate on enhancing operational performance and driving commercial efficiencies across all four (4) Maldives resorts.
The Maldives has been successful in drawing visitors from all around the world and maintaining their interest. With Vijai's vast international experience in luxury resorts, it is a place that is constantly thriving to improve the guest experience and will be essential to bolstering our position in the Maldives. With more than 27 years of experience in luxury resorts with international hospitality brands like IHG Hotels & Resorts, Taj Hotels & Resorts, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, to name a few, Vijai is a dynamic senior hospitality professional. Vijai has a wealth of experience working in the hospitality, leisure, and luxury tourist sectors. He formerly held the positions of general manager, vice president of operations, and business unit head. Vijai was most recently based in the United Arab Emirates. Vijai is a General Manager who has won numerous awards internationally. In 2022, the Luxury Lifestyle Awards named him one of the Top 100 General Managers in the world, and the International GM Awards named him the Most Valuable General Manager. He oversaw the pre-opening of more than six luxury resorts.
Prior to joining Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, he held the position of General Manager at the InterContinental Fujairah Resort in the United Arab Emirates. He has led the pre-opening of more than six premium resorts and one rebranding.
With all the knowledge and skill he has gained over his career, Vijai returns to the Maldives as Area Vice President for Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts. This is a place he is very familiar with. Returning to the Maldives is like coming home, and I am eagerly anticipating it, he said.
