ITB China Designates Maldives as Exclusive Island Travel Partner

Maldives has been appointed by ITB China as the Official Island Travel Partner of ITB China 2023, which will take place in Shanghai from September 12–14, 2023. The agreement is anticipated to make the popular tourist attraction one of the trade show's centerpieces.

The focal point of the island nation's expanded presence at ITB China 2023 will be the Maldives booth at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.

The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and 33 companies will co-exhibit here, giving local tourism professionals the chance to network with the Maldivian travel industry, forge new business connections, and learn more about the myriad opportunities the Chinese tourism sector has in the Maldives.

The ITB China Customized and Themed Networking Lunch, which will bring together industry experts, representatives from the travel industry, the media, and all other stakeholders under one roof, is one of many onsite activities that MMPRC will organize, along with a raffle and sponsorship of the event.

More details about the location will be revealed at the Presentation Hub Showcase on September 13.

"One of the biggest markets for the Maldives tourism business has historically been the Chinese market. After a 3-year break, the first direct flight from China arrived in January 2023. Thoyyib Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of MMPRC, stated that since then, there has been a notable increase in the number of arrivals from the Chinese market.
