Le Meridien Maldives and Patmar Create Collection for Resortwear Inspired by the Sea
Some of the most enchanting tales about islands are written next to the ocean. This spirit is reflected in the new collaboration between Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa and the resortwear brand Patémar, uniting their love of the ocean, innovative design, and the vibe of an eternal summer. As a part of the collaboration, Patémar men’s swim shorts will be available at Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, offering the perfect combination of resortwear style and more careful selection of materials and sustainability. The key fabric of the collection is made of upcycled plastic that was found in landfills and oceans. One pair of swim shorts uses the equivalent of 12 plastic bottles, giving you a sustainable material perfect for your life next to the sea. Each piece of the collection is handmade in Bali by expert tailors. Swimwear is presented with clean silhouettes and thoughtfully selected details.
Natural Synergy in the Maldives
Le Méridien Maldives presents the ideal venue for Patémar’s sea-friendly ideology due to the natural importance of the ocean in the daily activities of the island.Situated in Thilamaafushi Island in Lhaviyani Atoll and boasting an active house reef, the hotel emphasizes sustainable practices and marine conservation in its operations through initiatives such as reduction of single-use plastics and responsible consumption of water and energy resources. In addition to that, the hotel’s hydroponic greenhouse enables sustainable food production with herbs and leafy greens being cultivated right on the island. Apart from the internal activities of the hotel, the guests are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the marine ecosystem around the hotel.
Exploring the Marine Environment of Thilamaafushi
At the Marine Conservation Hub of the resort, the marine biologist residing there offers guests an insight into the marine world of Thilamaafushi Island. Here, they get to learn about the marine species of the area along with the delicate coral and seagrass ecosystems that sustain the marine life. With Good Travel by Marriott Bonvoy, guests get the chance to go one step further with the Marine Master program. This program lets guests experience their house reef, study marine species and participate in various marine conservation and research activities. In this context, the collection from Patémar acquires new dimensions. It has swimwear inspired by the environment but also with greater consciousness towards the same.
Endless Summer with Au Soleil
The partnership is also seen through the lens of Au Soleil, the celebration of good life under the sun at Le Meridien. At Le Méridien Maldives, the summer is not only a season – it is a way of life. Patémar's swimwear collection seems to be a perfect match for any guests who would like to start their day with an early morning swim, relax next to the pool or dive below the surface to explore the reef surrounding the resort. This collaboration embodies the spirit of an easy-going and adventurous island life where fashion, exploration, and purpose converge against the background of the Indian Ocean."Patemar is a natural partner for Le Méridien Maldives, as our stories share one common space: the ocean," said Thomas Schult, General Manager of Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa. "The collaboration embodies our passion for design and our dedication to environmental preservation, along with the spirit of Au Soleil. This partnership provides our guests with a new way to experience the incredible marine environment of the island."The Maldives is a perfect location to apply Patémar's unique approach to the ocean-inspired resortwear. The brand itself is founded based on the assumption that the resortwear should always feel connected to the destination."As Patémar is a brand created with the idea that resortwear should feel connected to the place where it is worn, the Maldives is a perfect continuation of this idea. Collaboration with Le Méridien Maldives provides us with a unique opportunity to present our philosophy of design and materials in such a beautiful and inspiring environment of the ocean."
Turning Resortwear into a Force for Good
The partnership extends beyond fashion and design. For every pair of Patémar swim shorts sold, the brand contributes €1 to Plastic Bank Indonesia. The initiative supports the collection of ocean-bound plastic while helping create additional income opportunities for local communities. This connection between design, destination and conservation gives the collaboration a purpose that goes beyond the product itself. Available at Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, the Patémar collaboration invites guests to discover the brand’s men’s swimwear while learning about the story behind its materials. At the same time, it offers an opportunity to experience the marine environment that defines Thilamaafushi Island—a destination where guests can live, explore and play with the ocean at the heart of the experience.
