Maldives' SO Appoints Hirshard Burhan as Director of Culinary Delights

The new SO/ Maldives resort, set to open in November 2023 on a gorgeous private island overlooking Emboodhoo Lagoon, has hired Hirshard Mohamed Burhan as the Director of Food & Beverage by the London-based hotel and hospitality company Ennismore.

At SO/ Maldives, Hirshard will be in charge of all food and beverage operations. He will work to improve the resort's culinary offerings, including those at the trademark Levantine restaurant Hadaba and the Mediterranean-inspired Lazuli Beach Club.

"Joining the SO/Maldives team is an interesting task because there are numerous systems to design, install, and coordinate in advance of the launch in a few months. Regarding his new position, Hirshard adds, "I'm genuinely honored and delighted to contribute to this brand-new project in such a special location.

Hirshard, who is originally from Sri Lanka, where his career in hospitality began, first had his heart set on becoming an artist but quickly discovered a passion for it. He worked in a variety of places on the continent before joining Ennismore, from high-end luxury homes in Dubai to closely collaborating with the Royal Palaces of Riyad and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. His most recent position—as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage for the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo—brought him to the Maldives, among other places.

Hirshard, a multifaceted individual with over 20 years of experience in hospitality, offers to SO/ a wealth of knowledge and a highly skilled skill set. He is a real asset to the team because of his desire to always learn and provide clients with a custom experience.
