Wide-body aircraft operation to start nonstop direct flights from "Maldivian"

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, plans to launch wide-body aircraft operations to start nonstop direct flights Maldives to popular tourist destinations.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has chosen to implement a wide-body aircraft operation to initiate nonstop direct flights from "Maldivian" to tourist destinations. This choice came after deliberations on a proposal presented by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation during the Cabinet meeting today.

48% of visitors to the Maldives arrive via connecting flights, as there are no direct flights from the countries with the highest number of tourists. Most European visitors to the Maldives come through connecting flights in the Middle East.

After the project begins, "Maldivian" will provide continuous direct flights to specific areas of China, Europe, and South Africa. The project has designated China's destinations as its main priorities. Once the operation starts, there will be at least two or three weekly direct flights between the region and the Maldives.

Introducing wide-body aircraft operations for the national airline is a crucial element of the Administration's 'Hafuthaa 14' roadmap.
