Marriott Bonvoy's Portfolio of Resorts in Maldives Hosts Unforgettable Independence Day Celebrations

The Maldives Independence Day was observed with tremendous enthusiasm and pride on July 26, 2023, at all of Marriott Bonvoy's resort properties there. In celebration of the country's progress toward freedom and unification, employees and visitors to the resorts came together to embrace the spirit of this stunning country through a variety of fun activities and events that reaffirmed the company's dedication to respecting and preserving the cultural heritage of this alluring locale. The celebratory mood was enjoyed by both guests and associates, making this anniversary a truly unique event.

In keeping with the celebration's theme, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands invited brilliant local Maldivian artists to present a lively Cultural Fair. Throughout the day, visitors got the chance to observe the expert craftsmanship of lacquer artists, kasabu artists, maldivian palm leaf artists, and even participate in a pottery workshop, giving them the chance to personally experience the cultural riches of the Maldives. The celebrations carried on at The Ritz-Carlton Spa, where visitors took part in a revitalizing Maldivian Rejuvenation Scrub Workshop and became acquainted with the local wellness customs. Additionally, the resort offered a Maldivian cooking class where visitors could learn how to make traditional Maldivian dishes. This was followed by a lavish Maldivian Night Buffet that was bursting with the flavors and scents of the archipelago.

A remarkable flag-raising ceremony was held at the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort in honor of the Maldives Independence Day. The resort also celebrated the event with a special meal at their Island Café, where visitors and staff gathered to enjoy the flavors of Maldivian cuisine and take in the nation's rich history.

All artists gathered in the Welcome area as the sun went down, wearing special Independence Day T-shirts and documenting the occasion with cheerful photographs. The day was commemorated at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa with a flag-hoisting ceremony, symbolizing the Maldives' bright future, which is in the capable hands of its youth.
