The series debuted last year with familiarity as Healing, an event bringing collectively wellness, earliest spiritual practices and the edge of bio hacking to inspire visitors; and Cosmopolitan Ocean, an immersive festival and collaboration with West Coast fashion brand STAMPD that redefined the ocean as a cross-cultural nexus for individual connection.
Merging creativity with sustainability and consideration in exploration of a deep connection with nature and a true sympathetic of energy and human development, French-Iranian artist Behnam-Bakhtiar’s artistic practice has gone during a transformation over the past few years. Sassan's most recent residency at Fari Art Atelier concentrated on sustainable artistry and celebrating nature. Drawing inspiration from classic artists' approach of using natural pigments, Sassan crafted a collection of 'Living Paintings' measuring 20cm x 20cm. These pieces were made with eco-friendly and organic materials, such as crushed shells and corals found on the island. This project serves as a gentle nudge to the art community about the importance of adopting alternative methods to produce art with significance.
Life Energy is set to return to its roots at Patina Maldives in July. A special group of prominent speakers and influencers from the modern art and sustainable development spheres will come together to kick off an exclusive exhibition and art sale. Half of the proceeds will be contributed to a local marine conservation organization to aid in research aimed at enhancing reef protection and advancing coral restoration initiatives. The occasion will feature the debut of a large, location-specific 'Living Painting', crafted discreetly in Sassan’s Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat studio, as the newest addition to Patina Maldives' permanent art collection, standing beside works by famous artists such as James Turrell, Jose Dávila, Cassio Vasconcellos, Hongjie Yang, Hiroko Takeda, and FAHR 021.3.
The new series aims to strengthen the bond with oneself, mind, body, and soul, aligning our energies, awareness, and life outlook into a unified whole. It represents a genuine stride towards essential human development and a common fundamental belief shared between Patina's principles and the ideology guiding my creative work.
Life energy contributes to human health as it facilitates the connection between our mind, body, and nature. Working with natural and sustainable materials while painting rejuvenates the soul and enhances the sense of connection. To ensure a sustainable future for generations to come, a shift in our current approach is essential. Failing to make this change will perpetuate the destabilization of our planet's ecosystem, reflecting the societal damage we witness. As a creative individual, it is my responsibility to advocate for the harmonious coexistence of humanity, nature, and progress through my work.
