Rules for Spa Operations are published by the Economic Ministry Maldives

The Maldives' Ministry of Economic Development has issued regulations governing the operation, maintenance, and promotion of spa establishments.

Starting on February 21st, new spa facilities must re-register in compliance with the regulations on the ministry's firm portal. The government has given spas already functioning in the Maldives 90 days to re-register on the platform. It will be determined if foreign workers are authorised to work at the establishments.

The rules also prohibit spa staff members from sharing their own photos, films, or sounds of the facilities online. Furthermore, it is stated that commercials must not include any human subjects and must follow national social and cultural norms.

The establishments who disregard the rules will be fined. The licences of such establishments may also be revoked by the registrar.
