According to the most recent Ministry of Tourism figures, as of August 2nd, the picturesque island nation had welcomed a whopping 1,086,074 tourists. This represents a 13.7% increase over the previous year, when the Maldives hosted a total of 955,502 guests during the same timeframe.
Among the major contributors to this growth in tourism, Russia is the clear leader, with an amazing 128,404 visitors coming in the Maldives. India comes close behind, accounting for 123,151 arrivals, while China is third, having graciously hosted 94,476 tourists on the island nation by August 2nd, 2023.
In response to the increasing number of visitors, the Maldives has successfully expanded its lodging capacity to 61,564 beds. This offer includes 41,813 beds spread throughout 175 resorts, 1,640 beds in 13 hotels, 14,944 beds spread across 911 guesthouses, and 3,167 beds spread across 161 safari vessels.
Furthermore, the number of tourists traveling to the Maldives continues to rise on a constant basis. Throughout the current year, the average daily visitor count in August is approximately 5,075 people.
