The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands has announced the arrival of Gibbs Kuguru, a renowned shark expert from Kenya and National Geographic Explorer. His subsequent residency, which is slated to run from October 1–5, 2023, promises to be an exciting fusion of shark conservation research, educational initiatives, and life-changing visitor encounters. The 'Visiting Heroes' program at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, which prioritizes environmental education and sustainability, includes Kuguru's stay.
Visitors will have the exceptional chance to take part in a variety of events during his visit, from exhilarating shark snorkeling excursions to engaging Q&A sessions with Kuguru himself. The first event of his residency will be a Shark Presentation at La Locanda on Monday, October 2, during which he will share his research findings and provide attendees a peek into the extraordinary world of these amazing creatures.
The fun will keep further on October 3rd when visitors may take part in a shark snorkeling tour and then unwind with a cocktail at Beach Shack. The following day, Kuguru will travel to the nearby island of Gaafaru to talk with young students and share information on shark conservation and marine life. Just before Kuguru departs, the residency comes to an end with one final snorkeling trip.
Kuguru is well known for his knowledge of researching many shark species, including Sand Tigers, Hammerheads, and Great White Sharks. His research attempts to illuminate how these animals adapt to their environment and thrive in the face of threats like overfishing and climate change. The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands' dedication to environmental preservation through its Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ambassadors of the Environment Program is consistent with Kuguru's mission. This exclusive program includes a variety of activities focused at protecting the environment and is appropriate for both adults and kids. Visitors can participate in ground-breaking research and dive deep into the water.
