The Cocoon Collection and Crystal Property Group (CPG) have embarked on a historic cooperation with Pritzker Prize–winning architect Shigeru Ban to design and construct an ultra-luxury Resort-Residence in the Maldives.
The island, known as Infinite Maldives, is only a 40-minute speedboat trip from Velana International Airport. The exclusive resort is located within Male Atoll 1 and is neighbors with renowned names like Ritz Carlton and Patina Maldives. The Cocoon Collection will run the resort, which will have 49 magnificent Residences in a mix of 1 and 2 Bedroom Land and Water Villas. To provide patrons with a genuinely exceptional experience, the island resort will assemble the best in gastronomy, wellness, adventure, and nature. The island is positioned to become the next big thing in the Maldives with its array of eateries, bars, spas, and wellness facilities.
Shigeru Ban was the ideal choice, according to Reza Magdon Ismail, CEO of CPG, who said in a statement on the project: "When it came time to dream of what Infinite Maldives could be, we wanted to work with an architect who had an incredible sensitivity to nature, someone who understood that the design of the island and its spaces must merge form and function, that these are homes to enjoy togetherness with one another but also capture the imagination of the worldwide traveler."
The Residences, which will be managed by The Cocoon Collection of the Maldives, will be for sale and offer owners returns. It will be among the area's first specifically designed resort residences. The combination of an investment vehicle and a leisure product has enormous potential benefits for the discerning investor of today.
Shigeru Bans' use of organic materials has earned him praise from all around the world. He bends and works with the materials to make soft, private spaces while being mindful of nature and how his creations will affect it. His humanitarian work takes him to countries all over the world, including Turkey and Sri Lanka, and his sensitive designs have distinguished him as a true visionary in the field of architecture.
"We are quite enthusiastic about working with Shigeru Ban on our newest Island. We are excited to be working with Shigeru Ban and his team because, in light of the changing times, we believed that, as hotel owners and guardians of these islands, it was our duty to develop something that would enhance and add value to the Maldives' reputation as a leader in hospitality. says The Cocoon Collection's managing director Alessandro Azzola.
