Sun Siyam Resorts Expands Business Development Team for Enhanced Growth

Mohammed Shihab and Ahmed Naufal, two members of Sun Siyam Resorts' business development team, have just been appointed to the positions of group director of sales and marketing and cluster director of sales and marketing, respectively.

In his new position, Shihab will be responsible for leading the sales and marketing teams at all six Sun Siyam Resort properties in the Maldives and Sri Lanka. He will do this by developing strong and efficient sales and marketing growth strategies and managing all international relationships with key partners.

Shihab began working for the organisation in 2020 as an Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing at Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives. He advanced in his career to Director of Sales and Marketing before taking on a new project under the Sun Siyam Resorts banner and joining Siyam World in 2021 as Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing to be a part of an exciting pre-opening team. Shihab, who is based at Siyam World, efficiently oversaw all Sales & Marketing activities for Sun Siyam Iru Fushi while simultaneously overseeing the successful inauguration of the most innovative island resort and industry gamechanger to hit the Maldives.

Since September 2011, when he began working as the sales and marketing supervisor at Meeru Island Resort and Spa in the Maldives, he has been an expert in the hospitality sector. In September 2015, he joined Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa as Senior Catering & Conventions Manager, where he undertook a new challenge in the MICE industry. Before taking a job as Director of Sales & Marketing at The Standard, Huravalhi Maldives in 2019, Shihab also held the post of Director of Catering & Conventions at the same resort.

Born and bred in India and proudly half-Maldivian, Shihab speaks fluently Hindi, English & Dhivehi and brings more than 13 years of sales experiences in the hospitality sector with him. With a passion for the hotel sector and a master's degree in business administration from Bangalore, India, he is also ardent about running a business and effectively setting new standards for this industry in the days to come.
