Keeping with its renewed emphasis on sustainable tourism, the Kuda Villingili team, in a sad display of cooperation, partnered with the Maldives Environmental Protection Agency-EPA to host a full Sustainability Awareness Event with Grade 5 students from Kaafu Atoll Education Center in Thulusdhoo.
This too, is an example of the dedication that the resort showed in continuing to deliver environmental awareness within its communities as an addition to a vision for luxury hospitality that was interwoven with sustainability practices.
Kuda Villingili is fundamentally sustainable because its operations benefit the environment as well as the community in which it resides.
It was an early morning, and the day started by visiting Thulusdhoo with the Kuda Villingili and EPA team. The EPA team briefed the students on the importance of protecting the coral reefs, and the Kuda Villingili team delivered an extremely engaging presentation to the students on the sustainability initiatives offered by the resort as part of its Green Globe certification. This certification is known for its outstanding efforts in making all forms of operations environmentally friendly. Kuda Villingili made use of renewable energy, water conservation systems, and waste management strategies during her presentation. She also focused on organic garden and preservation projects of coral reefs among the students.
In addition to inspiring students, additional inspirational aspects toward eco-consciousness include inspiring stickers and bookmarks by the team of EPA along with children books by resort that helped kids to love learning for environmental stewardship and saving coral reefs.
Shortly after the presentation, the EPA team, students, and the Kuda Villingili team proceeded to the resort for immersion. After a cooling refreshment at Spice Restaurant, the students embarked on a guided tour of the guest accommodations, facilities, and the engineering area and observed firsthand the innovative sustainability measures put in place there.
Solar Energy Utilization: Mega solar panel system in place to generate over 30% of the energies used by the resort.
Reverse Osmosis, RO System: Advanced water treatment process, with safe drinking waters
Waste Heat Recovery Unit: Heat generated via generation recovered for hot usage by guests
Wastewater Treatment: State-of the art cleaning system to achieve water recycling for irrigation uses in gardens and landscapes.
This is the hallmark of "luxury with responsibility" epitomized in Kuda Villingili, where luxurious hospitality goes hand in hand with the preservation of the environment.
Kuda Villingili is genuinely committed to preserving natural beauty in Maldives and empowering local communities. Such educational programs would encourage the future generation towards sustainability and environment protection.
This reflects the continued effort of Kuda Villingili toward sustainability and, above all, its vision in becoming a model toward greener and more sustainable futures in Maldives.
