The Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa has launched URJA Naturopathy Island – a new facility offering a unique experience to explore holistic wellness through more than just spa treatment. Named after the Sanskrit term meaning “vitality,” URJA integrates naturopathic practices, science and personalisation to create an experience which will allow people to restore themselves better. Unlike the short-term wellness fads and quick relaxation solutions, URJA takes care of sustainable wellness of its guests. The philosophy of this facility blends natural healing, ancient knowledge and contemporary expertise to help them comprehend their body and adopt certain practices which can help maintain their vitality.
Holistic approach forms the core of URJA. The programs offered by it incorporate aspects such as nutrition, exercise, detoxification and energetic wellness. Education and personal empowerment are of high importance for the facility. It is recommended that guests get informed about their body’s natural rhythm, about the necessity of proper nourishment and how they can implement small but consistent changes in their lifestyles. Diagnostics, consultation and personalized recommendations provide guests with information they will be able to use long after their stay on the island ends. The experience also recognizes the importance of the power of silence. Disconnecting from the constant stimulation they are used to getting in the modern world, guests get the chance to slow down, connect with the nature surrounding them and with their own breathing. A large number of URJA treatments also uses AION A, a mineral discovered by Swiss naturopathic researcher Emma Kunz (1892-1963) in the ancient Roman quarry in Wurenlos, Switzerland. This mineral is used in some treatments according to the idea of natural wellness of the island.
Guests arrive on the island on the traditional Maldivian cuisine boat called dhoni, thus starting their experience with traveling on the ocean towards the destination point. The island itself fully utilizes the natural surroundings, particularly the ocean, with overwater treatment suites and outdoor activities based on the rhythm of the water. Four major naturopathic pathways are available on the island – Rest & Rebalance, Cleanse, Nourish and Reconnect. Every programme begins with a consultation provided by one of our Naturopathic practitioners. Guests have an option to choose additional tests such as micronutrient test, iris diagnosis and postural map to get more data on their overall well-being condition. The list of treatments includes Mud Therapy, Heliotherapy, Life Force Healing, Magneto Therapy, and Sound Healing. All the treatments are based on Yoga Therapy and various naturopathy practices including fasting, acupuncture and full-body alignment practices. In addition, there are certain signature treatments such as the Vagus Reset, which is a calming treatment derived from the vagus nerve and the Night Spa Ritual taking place outdoors, symbolically connected to the night sky. Furthermore, at URJA, we offer special programs developed by Naturopathic Doctors from our team. We help our guests to cope with sleep disorders, take care of liver and joints health, etc.
The philosophy of URJA was also inspired by a Swiss naturopath and artist Emma Kunz. Four Seasons has unique access to the geometric drawings of Emma Kunz and uses them in the URJA treatment menu. Based on universal patterns and principles, these artworks add another layer to the island philosophy of harmony, balance, and natural energy. With its combination of naturopathic expertise, personal programs, natural environment, and education, the URJA Naturopathy Island is a unique wellness solution in the Maldives. Contrary to mere relaxation, it offers our guests an opportunity to learn about health and acquire skills that will allow them to continue their journey towards wellbeing after they leave our island.
