The famous Air Service World Congress 2024 will be held at Velana International Airport (VIA), according to a statement from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). As the first time the Maldives will host this prestigious international event, this is a historical turning point.
With the handover to Velana International Airport, the Air Service World Congress 2023 event held in Oakland, San Francisco Bay Area from July 17–19, 2023, came to a successful finish. The attendees were greeted by Mr. Mahjoob Shujau, MD and CEO, who also invited them to explore the Maldives' aviation industry and the considerable improvements made at Velana International Airport.
The upcoming conference, which is slated to take place in July 2024, is anticipated to draw international participants from the route development community and serve as a forum to talk about the development of international air services in the future. Velana International Airport is proud to facilitate such significant industry discussions in our native Maldives as a center of connectivity in the Indian Ocean.
Participants may anticipate engaging in interesting industry talks, one-on-one meetings, and a variety of networking opportunities throughout the event. These contacts will surely offer opportunities for information exchange, encouraging collaboration, and investigating cutting-edge solutions for the development of aviation services. It's not simply networking and industry conversations at this event. We are overjoyed to highlight our stunning islands and provide visitors the chance to take in the spectacular natural beauty of the Maldives.
We are delighted to announce Velana International Airport as the 2024 Air Service World Congress's host city. This significant occasion highlights our commitment to the aviation industry's ongoing growth and development. We have improved our infrastructure and increased our operational capacity significantly over the years," stated Mahjoob Shujau, CEO and Managing Director of MACL.
We have consistently improved our services to satisfy the changing needs of our customers and airlines, ranging from creative projects like the creation of the New Seaplane Terminal to the construction of a new Code F runway along with other amenities. This Congress will give us a priceless chance to highlight these developments and pave the way for potential collaborations with international carriers. We are confident that the Air Service World Congress 2024 will pave the way for a new chapter in Velana International Airport's growth story, solidifying our position as the area's top airport operator.
The hosts of the Air Service World Congress 2024 are looking forward to welcoming delegates to their idyllic island and hope that the gathering will have a lasting impact on everyone who attends.
