Hulhule Island Hotel Marks World Coconut Day Using Authentic Maldivian Traditions
The Hulhule Island Hotel celebrated World Coconut Day using a colorful celebration that revealed the cultural significance and the versatile roles of the coconut palm tree in the Maldives. During the celebration, the hotel greeted its guests by showcasing various coconut-leaf works of art, which included traditional birds and other handmade decorations from coconuts. The whole day was spent enjoying different special foods made of coconut. An exclusive cultural exhibit gave the guests a chance to learn about the traditions of the Maldives regarding the use of the coconut palm tree. The activities not only entertained the guests, but they were also arranged by the hotel. To add some spice to the activities, there was always the popular coconut-scrapping competition that paid tribute to the culinary tradition that is well-known to the Maldivians since ancient times.
