Skydiving in Maldives - Once In a Lifetime Experience

At 13,500 feet above Raa Atoll, the Maldives looks like it does from a satellite image: a scatter of dark green islands in impossible blue, atolls ringed by white reef lines, the Indian Ocean stretching to every horizon. Then you jump. The freefall lasts around 60 seconds 200 kilometres per hour of descent before the parachute opens and the view slows to something you can absorb. You land on a private beach. It is the most extraordinary aerial view available from anywhere in the Indian Ocean, and it is accessible to anyone who meets the basic weight and health requirements.

Skydive Maldives operates as the country's only permanent skydiving drop zone, based at Ifuru Island Resort in Raa Atoll.

What the Maldives Skydive Delivers

The view is the difference. Most drop zones around the world offer fields, coastlines, or suburban sprawl during freefall. Skydive Maldives offers the Indian Ocean from 13,500 feet — a view where 99% of what surrounds you is water, and the islands below look exactly as fragile and extraordinary as they are. No other drop zone on earth currently produces this specific visual experience.

Leslie Farkas and the Skydive Maldives instructors are experienced tandem jumpmasters the operation affiliates with Skydive Wasaga Beach, a long-established Canadian skydiving organisation. All tandem jumps pair guests with a certified instructor for the full jump you are attached to a trained jumper throughout, requiring no prior skydiving experience.

The jump runs year-round, but November to March produces the clearest sky conditions and the most consistent visibility during freefall. The Maldives' northeast monsoon season brings dry air and low humidity optimal conditions for the aerial photography and video packages that most guests add to their booking.

The private beach landing at Ifuru Island means your jump ends on white sand with the Raa Atoll lagoon 10 metres away. You land on the same beach that resort guests use for swimming  the arrival is calm, controlled, and immediately followed by the ocean.

💡 Insider Tips

Book the jump for the morning, specifically before 10am. Raa Atoll's atmospheric haze builds from mid-morning as the temperature rises. The clearest freefall visibility and the best photography conditions comes in the first two hours of daylight. The $699 base price is the same regardless of timing, but the view quality is significantly better on an early slot.
Add the video package. The 60 seconds of freefall passes faster than any 60 seconds you have ever experienced. Without footage, your memory of the specific visual detail the atoll below, the horizon, the reef line begins to blur within hours. The instructor-mounted camera captures what your brain doesn't fully process in real time.
Arrive the evening before your jump if you're staying at Ifuru specifically for the skydive. Jump anxiety produces poor sleep and poor sleep produces a jump that you experience through fatigue rather than clarity. Arrive a day early, swim in the lagoon, eat well, sleep properly, and jump on day two. The experience is considerably sharper.
The weight limit applies strictly - confirm before you book. Skydive Maldives applies standard tandem weight limits (typically 100kg/220lb maximum). Confirm your eligibility directly with the operator before booking a flight to Raa Atoll specifically for the jump.
