In honor of World Earth Day 2023, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort organized the first-ever local resort and community coral restoration event in the Maldives in cooperation with Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Council and Dh. Atoll School Eco Friends Club. This event was organized in association with Reefscapers Maldives. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness among the local youth and community about the new dangers facing coral reefs and the necessity of defending this crucial ecosystem in the Maldives.A marine biologist from the resort, Ms. Hazel Araujo, led a workshop on awareness for 17 kids from Dh. Atoll School as part of the program. Two coral frames made of 130 coral fragments were prepared with help from the kids, and they were afterwards placed in Dh.
