Sun Siyam Resorts is committed to operating sustainably and responsibly in the Maldives and Sri Lanka while providing genuine guest experiences, in keeping with this year's international Earth Day theme of "Invest in our Planet" and to show support for environmental protection. Sun Siyam Resorts is reflecting its values at the center of the company.
In order to support Earth Day 2023, the various island resorts carried out a number of environmental and sustainability efforts as well as guest activities, such as tree-planting ceremonies, reef, beach, and lagoon cleaning sessions, marine biology talks, and pledging ceremonies, all under the direction of their sustainability program, Sun Siyam Cares.
However, environmental initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to preserve island homes and promote a better world and are not merely for special occasions. At Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, you can snorkel and see some of the nicest coral reefs in the Maldives as well as a flourishing coral garden created as a consequence of coral planting efforts over the previous five years. The island team promised to plant 5000 trees over the course of the next three years, which is a significant step in protecting the planet's future.
With the planting of 100 trees at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi on Earth Day 2023, the island team and many visitors have now planted 247 plants annually, putting them one step closer to their goal of 1000 trees in 2023.
To actively "make a difference" and leave the breathtaking Maldives knowing that they had a once-in-a-lifetime experience and made a difference, guests from Siyam World Maldives joined the island-based, local marine biologist Thuhu and the island team for a special island cleaning event in the morning.
The Sun Siyam Cares program puts sustainability first by supporting community development, conserving energy and water, managing waste to cut down on plastic use, and making investments in renewable energy. The program also emphasizes conservation initiatives and work to save regional cultural practices and assets. By implementing these sustainable strategies, resorts want to reduce their negative environmental impact and carbon footprint while also enhancing the socioeconomic well-being of the local populations.
Sun Siyam Resorts, which operates five resorts in the Maldives and one that will soon reopen in Sri Lanka, provides couples, families, watersports enthusiasts, and tourists looking for a change of pace with unforgettable experiences and luxurious accommodations at reasonable prices.
