Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives, has announced the launch of the Maldives' biggest floating solar park. Developed in collaboration with Swimsol, a leading global company in offshore marine photovoltaics, this 1,080 kWp solar park is now the largest Solar Sea system in operation in the Maldives.
Ms. Corinna Luebbe, Cluster General Manager of Taj Maldives, highlighted that Taj Exotica Resort & Spa has significantly reduced its carbon footprint, aligning with IHCL's ESG+ framework - Paathya. This demonstrates their dedication to energy conservation, minimizing environmental impact, and protecting the natural beauty of the Maldives.
The SolarSea system, when paired with a battery, can run entirely on renewable energy all day. The biggest Solar Sea system in operation in the Maldives saves approximately 475,000 liters of diesel per year and cuts the resort's carbon footprint by 1,200 tons annually.
Martin Putschek, the Managing Director of Swimsol, expressed great pride in the achievement. It has always been Swimsol's aim to assist island resorts in the Maldives in eliminating gen-sets usage during the day and reducing diesel consumption. Taj Exotica is one of the pioneering resorts in the Maldives to achieve this milestone. The collaboration with the resort team has been outstanding, and Swimsol appreciates their support and trust.
Taj Exotica Resort & Spa is an eco-friendly resort located on Emboodhu Finolhu Island and is one of just two properties in the Maldives that has been awarded an EarthCheck Platinum certification.
