Velana International Airport, with IATA code MLE and ICAO code VRMM, serves as the primary international airport in the Maldives. Situated on Hulhule Island in the North Male Atoll, it is in close proximity to the capital island of Male.
The Malé Airport serves as the primary entry point for tourists visiting the Maldives islands, being the sole airport in the country that provides international flights.
The Male International Airport Seaplane Terminal in the Maldives is connected to the world's largest seaplane fleet operation. Originally scheduled to open in May 2020, the new seaplane terminal has had its opening date rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The terminal is being constructed on a reclaimed lagoon behind the Air Traffic Control tower, just a few minutes away from the old seaplane terminal. Spanning 18,000 square meters on the reclaimed land, the new terminal also includes a hangar being built on an additional 14,000 square meters. It is designed with multiple lounges and seating areas for passengers. The terminal will host all four seaplane operators - Trans Maldivian, Maldivian, Flyme, and Manta - under one roof.
