A series of roadshows organized by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) in Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Lucknow, India, were a success. The main goals of this event were to keep India as one of the top source markets for the Maldives, enhance economic ties, and network with tour operators and travel agents from the Indian market.
It also had the goal of improving particular goods and experiences, which was in line with our plans for the Indian market. The first roadshow took place in Lucknow on July 17, 2023, the second in Jaipur on July 19, 2023, and the third roadshow took place in Chandigarh on July 20, 2023.
22 notable Maldivian tourism businesses participated in the roadshow and showcased their distinctive goods and services to the Indian market. These businesses included Island Life Travel Pvt Ltd, Medhufushi Island Resort, Tatabye Maldives Pvt Ltd, Adaaran Resorts and Heritance Aarah, Furaveri Maldives, Emerald Collection, Angsana Resort and Spa Maldives - Velavaru, Yorker DMC Pvt Ltd, JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, Centara Grand Resort & Spa, Lux South Ari Atoll; Robinson Club Mal The involvement of so many renowned travel and tourist businesses at this event highlights the commitment of the Maldives' tourism industry to the preferences of the Indian market, which has been the country's top source market for the past three years.
Throughout the roadshow series, MMPRC held raffles, and the lucky Lucknow winner received a complimentary two-night stay at Cinnamon Hotel and Resort. The lucky winner of the raffle drawn during the roadshows in Jaipur and Chandigarh received a gift certificate for a stay at the JW Marriott or Robinson Maldives, as appropriate.
Following COVID-19, India has become the largest sourcing market for the Maldives. As of July 16th, 2023, there were 171,131 arrivals, making it the #2 source market for visitors to the Maldives. On this day, the Maldives also celebrated reaching the significant milestone of one million visitor arrivals for the year. MMPRC continues to use a 360-degree marketing strategy to strengthen Maldivian presence in this market. The current marketing initiatives for 2023 will also involve familiarization tours for influencers and coordinated digital campaigns with notable media. For the following five months, further exciting marketing initiatives are planned, including advertisements in prestigious publications, familiarization tours, JMPs, and retail activation with premium brands. These marketing initiatives by MMPRC show their dedication to spreading the word about the extraordinary and unforgettable experiences that can be found on the Sunny Side of Life.
