Record-Breaking Influx: Over 40,000 Chinese Tourists Embrace Travel Resumption in Four Months

Since travel between the two nations was resumed, the Ministry of Tourism has reported that more than 40,000 tourists have come from China in a period of four months.

The Chinese market has risen to the sixth place among the top 10 markets as of May 17, according to the most recent information provided by the ministry of tourism. From China, a total of 40,02 tourists have traveled to the Maldives during this time. According to other figures, the Chinese market is on track to surpass the other top 10 markets in the Maldives before the year is over.

With 284,029 Chinese visitors to the Maldives in 2019, China enjoyed the distinction of being the top source market for tourist visits in the Maldives prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. Chinese visitors, however, have been unable to travel to the Maldives for the past three years as a result of the travel restrictions put in place during the outbreak. Chinese visitors have just recently been traveling to the country after the country's borders were reopened this year.
