The Three People Who Make Village Hideaways Work

Hardy runs the overall guest experience. Guests consistently name him specifically not the property generally as the reason they return. He manages the balance between organising excursions for guests who want activity and leaving guests alone who want silence and beach. That balance is harder to get right than most guesthouses manage.

Alho leads the tours. His Hanifaru Bay manta tours operate in small groups, timed around the tidal flows that produce the highest feeding activity. He knows which specific reef corners hold turtles consistently and which snorkelling conditions to avoid. Book tours through him directly rather than through third-party operators on-island.

💡 Insider Tips

Book Alho's Hanifaru Bay tour for early morning, not afternoon. The bay fills with tourists by mid-morning during manta season (June–November). An early start gets you in the water before the tour-boat crowd arrives the difference in experience is significant.

Ask Hardy for the Goidhoo Island crossing. Goidhoo sits just across the water from Fulhadhoo and sees very few tourists. It has one of the calmest, most untouched beaches in Baa Atoll. Hardy can arrange the boat crossing it takes under 20 minutes and costs very little.

The beach at dawn is the best version of it. Fulhadhoo's 1km beach belongs entirely to you between 5:30 and 7:30am. Walk the whole length before the sun gets high. Bring nothing except yourself.
