The beyond-luxury Velaa Private Island Maldives resort in the Noonu Atoll once again donated MVR 750,000 to three non-profit/non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Malé on May 14, 2023, as part of the resort's annual giving program and to mark a successful start to the year.
As part of Velaa's charitable initiative, MVR 250,000 was donated to Care Society, Cancer Society of the Maldives, and Maldivian Thalassemia Society. Support for these three medical organizations began in 2018 to coincide with the resort's fifth anniversary.
"We are happy to be able to repay the Maldivian community for their ongoing support throughout the years in order to do our part once more. It is amazing to learn more about the organizations' successes and the improvements they are making to the local populations, according to Wayne Milgate, general manager of Velaa Private Island in the Maldives.
About Care Society
The largest non-profit organization in the Maldives, Care Society was established on November 9th, 1998. It has performed numerous forms of humanitarian assistance since its founding. Care was also crucial to the Maldives' post-tsunami humanitarian efforts. Community-based rehabilitation programs were launched by Care in 2004 with the primary goal of improving impaired people's quality of life through strengthening local communities.
About Cancer Society of Maldives
A national community-based (non-profit/non-governmental) organization called the Cancer Society of the Maldives (CSM) was established with the aim of lowering cancer incidence and its effects in the Maldives. CSM makes a contribution through raising awareness of cancer, offering support, and disseminating knowledge and resources to improve the experience of those battling the disease.
