The name makes a promise. Dhiffushi White Sand Beach delivers on it.
The sand is genuinely white. Not off-white, not beige, not the greyish sand you find on some inhabited islands. White sand, turquoise water, and a reef close enough to shore that you're looking at live coral two minutes after walking into the water. For a local island in North Male Atoll, this combination is not automatic Dhiffushi earned its reputation.
The guesthouse sits at the edge of this. Clean rooms, private bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi. Staff who have been running island excursions long enough that the recommendations are real rather than commission-driven.

Activities Worth Your Time

Sunset boat trip - The light over North Male Atoll at sunset is worth being on the water for.
What Other Sites Don't Tell You
Two guesthouses operate on Dhiffushi. Both access the same beach and reef. Book whichever responds faster and has availability on your dates. The island experience is shared.
The southwest monsoon brings occasional seaweed to the beach between May and October. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing if beach aesthetics matter to you. November–April is consistently cleaner.
Dhiffushi works perfectly as a Male stopover. One night before flying home, one night after landing instead of paying for a Male city hotel and seeing nothing. Same transfer distance, actual beach, actual reef.
The local cafe near the jetty opens at 6:30am. Fresh short eats, sweet tea, and the fishing boats coming in. Better morning than any hotel breakfast.
Insider Tips
Arrive on the afternoon ferry and go straight to the beach. The late afternoon light on Dhiffushi's sand is the best version of it. Don't waste it unpacking.
The reef to the right of the main beach entry has more fish life than directly ahead. Swim parallel to shore for about 100 metres before turning out to the reef. The coral coverage is denser there.
Book a sandbank trip for your second day, not your first. Use day one to orient yourself and understand the water conditions. The sandbank trip is better when you're relaxed and unhurried.
Tell the guesthouse your flight time when you book. They'll arrange the speedboat to Male with enough buffer. Missing a connection because of a miscalculated transfer is the one avoidable disaster at Dhiffushi.
